How to Survive on Land & Sea opened in late 2019 in the heart of Houston's EaDo and historic Second Ward, at the intersection of Harrisburg Boulevard and Sampson Street. Formerly a cleaners and launderer, the building we occupy offers a dimly lit, casual atmosphere perfect for savoring a unique glass of wine with a good friend, or multiple friends, or even alone with a great book. In our cellar you'll find a meticulously curated inventory of wines from all over the globe available for on-site enjoyment or your retail pleasure. We offer a small but intriguing list of wines by the glass and half glass that changes every day. There will always be something new to try.

We also offer an amazing happy hour Monday through Friday from 4 to 8 featuring a rotating selection of wines and draft beer for little more than a song.


We round out your wine drinking experience with small dishes such as cheese and charcuterie plates and shareable snacks like marinated olives, boquerones, taralli and house-made pickles. 


Reservations are not necessary but recommended for larger parties of 4 or more. We also offer our space for private events and larger parties.


At How to Survive we focus on small producers and wines made with passion. We regularly host wine tastings, educational seminars, bottle swaps and featured wine selections.
